You can contribute to the beauty and biodiversity of Ohio by planting a native wildflower garden in your own backyard. With patience, your garden will blossom into a vibrant haven for pollinators and wildlife, reflecting the stunning diversity of Ohio's native wildflowers. With that said ...
Not everyone, including a florist I know (me) is up for gardening, despite a deep love of flowers. Because of this I like to take advantage of what local parks and trails have to offer. Southwest Ohio is home to a surprising number of beautiful and diverse nature preserves, each offering unique opportunities to connect with the natural world. One such hidden gem is the Charleston Falls Preserve in Tipp City, Ohio. It is filled with beauty and adventure, not to mention a stunning waterfall.
My personal favorite however is Brukner Nature Center, where I have the honor of serving on the Board of Directors. Brukner is a non-profit, privately funded organization promoting the appreciation and understanding of wildlife conservation through preservation, education, and rehabilitation. I can't count the number of hours we have spent exploring all they have to offer, from trails filled with Ohio native plants, to visits with the wildlife ambassadors.
So get out there and plant, explore, observe, and appreciate the incredible beauty of Ohio's native plant and wildflower wonderland!
